Product Overview

DM Normal Tools is a MEL script for managing vertex normals in Autodesk Maya. It offers both average and face-weighted alignment methods, making it easy to refine shading and maintain consistent model highlights. The tool integrates smoothly into your workflow with a simple, intuitive interface and requires minimal setup.

Tested in Autodesk Maya 2018–2025 for Windows.

Key Features

Face-Weighted & Average Algorithms: Use either face-weighted or average-based algorithms to suit different shading needs.

Keep Hard Edges: Preserve the shading for hard edges so they still appear sharp.

Unlock Normals: Unlock vertex normals and restore soft/hard edges.

Manual Control: Copy and paste normal vector values directly in the UI.

Flexible Scope: Apply to single or multiple objects at once, or target specific mesh components (vertices, faces, vertex faces).

• Lock Normals - Locks vertex normals with their current values. Can be applied to a single object, multiple objects, or vertices.
• Vertex Normal Edit Tool - A shortcut to Maya’s built-in tool for manually adjusting vertex normals using a manipulator. Works with selected vertices or vertex faces.
